6. BEHIND CLOSED DOORS - ABOUT LONELINESS IN THE CITY
For the first time in history, more citizens of the world will live in cities than in rural areas: people of the 21st century are urban people. The city stands for hope and opportunities. But in the centre of the city, there is also a lot of loneliness. A lack of contact, the sense of not belonging. An image of urban anonymity. We live so close to one another, but are almost hidden from one another. In how much are you a part of your surroundings and how much influence do you have? Do you have power over your direct surroundings or are you a product of it?
LONG ROUTE Sunday 5 and Sunday 12 July from 15.30 until 22.30
Change in the program: Sunday 12 july All the people I didn’t meet of Judith Nab will be replaced by Droogland of Marjolein Frijling.
This route includes:
1. The performance Rommelhemel (Messy heaven) by Bert Hana: our attention is drawn to the hidden stories of city dwellers. In second-hand shop De Lokatie, we enter a magical world where behind closed doors we see a new light.
2. An exclusive dinner provided by One for the Road. Eat, drink and talk with loneliness experts (that are still to be determined) at the dinner table.
3. In the interactive installation All the people I didn’t meet by Judith Nab, we enter a public space in which we get to know other visitors to the space in anonymity.
4. The performance Ondertussen op de Derde (Meanwhile on the third floor) by De Heiploeg theatre group: the characters live hidden away in their container homes on the edge of the city and each of them tries in their own way to fit in. In the midst of urban anonymity, they seek their way in solidarity and loneliness.
